WCC Library and Archives

The WCC Library and Archives form the institutional and historical memory of the World Council of Churches and the modern ecumenical movement. They ensure for future generations a long-term access to this unique and invaluable documentary resource and ecumenical heritage, while furthering ecumenical research and education locally and globally.

Since its foundation in 1946, the WCC Library and Archives collect and preserve the historical memory of the ecumenical movement and support ecumenical research and education through their multimedia documentary resources and collections pertaining to the history of the modern ecumenical movement and ecumenical theology.

Today, the WCC Library holds a unique and comprehensive collection on ecumenism and the history of the ecumenical movement since the early 20th century, comprising ca. 100,000 volumes, including various collections in specialized areas, some of them dating back to the early 17th century.

WCC Archives is the repository of the records of the World Council of Churches, as well as of various other ecumenical organizations or movements and of the personal papers of ecumenical personalities. The oldest documents date back to the late 19th century.

Your donation will help to preserve this unique heritage and to make it available to scholars and researchers from all around the world, either in print or electronic format.

If you would like your gift to be specifically affected either to the library or the archives, please mention it in the comment line.
